OCSB Therapy Chicago | Porn & Compulsive Sexual Behavior
When Sexual Behavior Feels Out of Control
Many people arrive in my office after searching “Am I a sex addict?” I’m less interested in deciding whether your sexuality deserves a stigmatizing label. I’m much more interested in understanding your answer to this question: Do you feel in control of your sexual desires?
OCSB often looks like compulsive masturbation, repeated affairs or infidelity, paid sexual experiences, online sexual behavior/sexting with content creators, secrecy/deception, and spending much more time on sex than you intended.
OCSB begins as an impulsive choice that can be caused by one or numerous underlying issues. Neurodivergence, attachment wounds, rejection sensitivity, unaddressed erectile issues, and sexual trauma are all correlated with OCSB.
Therapy for Out-Of-Control Sexual Behavior (OCSB)
We begin with a detailed assessment that includes looking at various aspects of your life, your relationships, and your physical health. Together we explore what about your current sexual habits feels out of your control and how it’s impacting you. By creating goals for the therapeutic process, I help clients clarify their sexual identity so that their value system and behaviors can remain aligned.
I have worked with gay, heterosexual, and bisexual men, women, and couples who struggle with the effects of OCSB. If the above description resonated with you, I encourage you to reach out for more information or read more here.
Out-of-Control Sexual Behavior (OCSB) is not a diagnosis. OCSB is a sex-positive framework for understanding sexual behavior that feels difficult to control or is creating problems in your relationships, work, or emotional life.
If you've been searching for a “porn addiction therapist” or wondering whether you're a “sex addict,” OCSB offers another way of understanding what is happening.
When sex feels out of control, shame doesn't have to be the treatment.
